Another day, another pub meal. The target today the Kent Town Hotel, or the Tap Inn as its called due to its golfing theme (complete with driving range). As the menu also has a sporting theme I ordered the Australian Open Beef Burger. $13.80 the price… . and mmm what beer do I want… they seriously have about 20 beers on tap, almost to hard to make a decision. I went for a Pure Blonde in the end ($5.00). There is no choice of Pint or Schooner at the Tap Inn, just their in-between 380ml glass. I guess that makes it easy for the bar staff or something.
We sat outside by the side of the road as the weather was warm. Unfortunately the heat has a way of making your beer disappear fast… I swear that Pure Blonde tastes so much better out of the keg than in a bottle.
In all of about 8 mins at the most our meals arrived. The burger comes with no salad and no sauce. You are supposed to visit the inside salad and sauce bar to do what I think the chef should do. As I’m lazy and don’t care too much for salad, I got into the burger straight away. The meat had some flavour and good thickness and just held together until the end. Egg, cheese and small amount of onion were good enough for some flavour, but once again I’m finding tasteless undercooked bacon in Adelaide. The chips were very good, hot, had a lot of chicken salt on them and most importantly crisp!
After I was finished I wished I’d been bothered to get some sauce from the salad bar as the burger got a bit bland by the end. Some would say sauce makes things taste like sauce anyway.
Overall, a pretty decent burger meal, next time I might take some clubs with me and have a swing!
