Friday lunch once again, today Mr Dan O’Connell was getting a visit from the Beer and Burger boys. Today I thought I’d go one of the famous Daniel O’Connell Front Bar Schnitzels. $14.90 for my full size (you can get a half for $9.90) I didn’t mind paying that price because I’d seen the size and quality of these schnitzels before. I grabbed a schooner of Stella for $5 from the friendly Irish barman and took a seat. The beer wasn’t as fantastic as it could have been, it almost tasted a little flat, but decent enough.
A good 30 odd minutes later just as we were about to enquire where our food was it rocked up. And what was this… my short term memory is bad, but I remember the schnitzels here being about twice as big! They must have downsized them as people were wasting too much. Dam those small stomached humans! Ah well enough crying about lack of size, time to get some flavour. The chips here in this Irish Pub are fantastic. They are slightly battered!! Great crispy and flavour filled chips, I ate them all before even touching the schnitzel.
The Schnitzel was very very good. Tender meat varying in thickness up to 2cm thick in places with a great tasting covering. After initially being disappointed with the new smaller sizing, I must say by the time I finished it all I was quite full…. probably for the best they shrunk it a bit.. I’d have to say that this schnitzel is only second to the great Earl of Leicester Schnitzel in taste + the Earl now has a rather large size advantage also.

Overall, after a decent wait a fantastic pub meal was served. The boys with me also agreed as they all cleaned their plates with their different meals and declared it was the best damn pub meal they’d had in ages!
