A friend of a friend has recently part taken over the Saracen’s Head on Carrington Street. We were hoping to be showered with free food and drinks, but as he wasn’t there this will be an unbiased review.
First impressions of the place are that this is quite a decent looking establishment. Everything had a kind of comfortable feeling. Not the sterile brand mew ultra modern and not old and dirty.
To the menu. Although I was due for a schnitzel I went for the classic beef burger. unfortunatly there was no beer and burger deal, so I just had to pay the goign rate of $12.90 for the burger. The beer how ever did have a bit of a special on. Coopers larger pints for $3.50. It was quite tasty too!

It was a good 20 minutes later before two out of three of us got our meals. The 3rd meal came out about 5 minutes later.
The chips were ok, hot but could have one with 60 more seconds in the deep fryer. Fantastic chips can make such a difference to a meal, its a shame that kitchen staff rush them so much.
The burger itself was the height of averageness. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it what so ever other than the fact that it was average. It just didn’t have anything that stood it out from the many other average bland burgers out there. Was it still enjoyable? Yes, but would I go out of my way for this burger? No.
The same story came from around the table. Average good pub food but nothing special.

Overall the Saracen’s head had some good pub food and some tasty cheap pints of beer. But unless its your local or or in the area I wouldn’t go too far out of your way to eat here. It might be more worth your while going earlier in the week as there seems to be meal specials on then (check the pic).
