Last time I visited the Bath a year or two ago, we walked through the front door, looked around for about 5 seconds and then walked out again. The Bath had been a run down place that just wasn’t pleasant at all. But all that has changed thanks to an almost total rebuild. This place now looks fantastic and once again classy enough for its location on the Parade at Norwood.

Bath Beer GardenUpon arriving on my Vespa, I was greeted by the car park attendant and shown to the special motorcycle parking area. On one hand it was good they had an attendant keeping the precious parking available for customers only but on the other hand the motorcycle park was 25 metres further away than where I was going to park.

The outside beer garden area is quite nice. There are fountains along the side walls with a couple of trees through the middle and an outside facing bar on the inside.Bath Menu

For lunch, after a tough decision (nearly went for the calamari) I went for the beef burger ($12.90). There were a good selection of beers on tap including the premium favorites of Stella and Becks, but I settled for a pint of Heineken. $6.90 later I had a great tasting although little expensive pint… I guess they have to pay for the renovations some how!

About 15 minutes later my tastie looking burger arrived. Beef, cheese, tomato, beetroot, lettuce, onion and the sauce on the side. The sauce on the side reminded me a bit of the Kent Town, but at least this time the sauce was on my plate and not inside at the sauce and salad bar. Still I’d prefer the chef do the work of the saucing. One of the other guys who had the burger didn’t sauce his burger until near the end and he regretted it saying his burger was bland until then. I sauced straight away and was rewarded with an all round great tasting burger. The meat was BBQ’d, juicee and held together well. The bun was good, fresh and half toasted and I didn’t miss the lack of bacon and egg on the burger, it just Bath Salad Calamarididn’t need it.
The chips were just about perfect. They were hot, crisp and well salted, very enjoyable.
Another one of the guys ordered the caesar salad with calamari (or salt and pepper tangle as they call it) $17.90. He loved it and it was a very large serving. I stole a piece of squid and it was very nice.

Overall the renovation has made the Bath a completely new experience and one I very much enjoyed. Great atmosphere (although the Christmas carols that were getting played got annoying quickly), great food and great beer. I’ll be back.
