Since it was Pete’s 25th birthday we thought we’d head out for a mid week luncheon. With the temperature in the upper 30′s we needed somewhere cool… Finn McCool!
Finn McCool’s is at the Norwood Hotel and is one of Adelaide’s several Irish Pubs. On interior decoration alone I think its the best looking. This place also has an Internode WI-FI hotspot.
Upon browsing the menu I was delighted to see that a majority of the lunch time meals are half price. After a tough decision I settled on the crumbed prawn cutlets and chips. $8, nice price! We also ordered some half price garlic bread $2.40 for 4 pieces.
Next for the beer. The drink specials were $2.80 for a schooner of VB or Carlton Draught. I decided to pass on this and went for a Pint of Coopers Pale Ale. $7.90 mmm I just doubled the price of my lunch with this beer…..
Ahhh I see, half price meals, double price beers… No matter, it still worked out to be a cheap meal and the beer was very tasty.
After about 10 minutes the garlic bread arrived and quickly disappeared. Very good indeed. Soon after that our mains arrived. The guys (girls) I went with all ordered the $7.50 Chicken Salad for some reason. They all enjoyed them.
I received my plate of 8 prawns, tartare sauce, chips and a side salad. Everything was hot and crisp the way I like it. Good lightly salted chips and the prawns were cooked to perfection. The only kind of let down to the meal was the average tasting tartare sauce. I’m not sure what it was, it just didn’t taste real great and it was a bit runny.
Overall Finn McCool’s offers great value with its half price meals and has the quality to back it up. And at those prices you can afford to spend $8 on a pint. Very enjoyable.
