Last time I went to The Lion was October 2006. At that time the special was a steak sandwich and a bottle of TED’s for $11.90. Its good to see that management has come to its senses and brought back the Burger and Beer deal with a choice of a bottle of Stella or Corona for $12.50.
Lets get down to business. It was a reasonably busy Friday lunch time at the Lion but I’ve seen it a lot worse. After ordering my beef burger and collecting my bottle of Corona we took a seat in the beer garden out the back. The Lion is always a nice place to come and sit around drinking.
About 10 to 15 minutes later all our burgers came out at once which was great. I got stuck straight into the fries which are usually fantastic here, unfortunately this time they were only just warm and starting to go soggy. Still, nicely salted fries though.
The burger itself wasn’t much warmer than the chips, but it was saved by the fact that it too was a decent tastie burger. The meat was good, cooked well and held together and didn’t suffer from soggy too much breadcrumbs disease.
Overall The Lion always guarantees you a good pub lunch with great beer and now that the $12.50 beer and burger deal is back its a good time to visit once again. I just hope they can get hotter food to the tables a bit more often!
